The most basic air conditioner for a single room is the window unit. Although many people would not consider these a portable air conditioner, the fact is that they can be easily installed and removed whenever the need arises. If you’re going to be cooling one specific room for a long period of time, your best option would probably be to find a quiet portable air conditioner that fits into the window. It stays out of the way and is up off the floor so that it blows into the room effectively.
There are also a number of different units that can easily be moved from room to room or perhaps even around to different areas of the same room. These air conditioners are often used whenever an individual either does not want to install a window unit or if they want to be able to use it in multiple rooms of the home at different times. There are plenty of these quiet portable air conditioner units that are floor models, but there is something that you need to consider. Many of these floor models need to be vented to the window so they would need to be in close proximity to it. There are some portable or conditioners that are freestanding but you will need to continually empty the water out of the pan as it collects.
Another interesting thing about these AC units is the fact that many of them can be used for multiple purposes.
