The first reason to buy a portable AC unit is that you don’t have central air in your house. No AC in much of the world means a very long hot summer with many sleepless nights. Besides being inconvenient it can even be dangerous for infants and elderly.
The second reason is affordability. Entry level portable air conditioning units can be purchased online for less than $300. They require little to no maintenance or installation work.
